We are currently looking for a highly organised and motivated individual to join the Acute, Emergency Care and Hospital Operations Directorate as an Assistant Directorate Manager.

Two positions available one full time permanent and one 12 months fixed term.

The Assistant Directorate Manager will be a key part of delivering the operational and strategic objectives across the AECHO Division. The post holder will be a key driver in ensuring performance targets are met, supporting projects and leading on new initiatives including ongoing work as part of the Health Board annual plan and the Clinical Services plan.

The post holder will have responsibilities for specialties including the ED, MIU, AMU, SDEC and Hospital Operations . This includes Service & staff management.

Main duties of the job

Operational Management & Planning

Responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of day to day designated services within the Directorate.

To lead on policy development and implementation for designated area of responsibility.

Responsible for the effective management of establishment control within area of work.

To undertake in depth analysis of current and historical activity and waiting list data to capacity plan in relation to targets. Identify and analyse trends to influence future service developments/strategy including complex financial analysis to inform decision making on future capacity planning needs for the designated area of responsibility within the Directorate.

To understand the future workforce needs of the department and lead on workforce planning, developing training programmes to support developments to ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet service requirements.

To be responsible for ensuring effective utilisation of both facilities and staffing resource.

Ensure that services are fully optimised and where appropriate lead the development of designated business cases to secure additional resources and subsequently project manage implementation and achievement of successful bids often will require constant process adjustment to ensure project delivery.

To provide effective leadership skills ensuring that the values if the Health Board are embedded within the team.

Masters degree or equivalent experience at senior management level within the NHS. Service Improvement qualification (Silver) or working towards.

Desirable

Formal Service Improvement qualification FISH, six sigma.
