Job summary

We have an exciting new substantive 10 PA post in Haematology with an Interest in Haemostasis and Thrombosis at successful candidate will lead the UCLH Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) service, providing support in expanding the service, including inpatient and outpatient pathways. The successful applicant will also support other areas of haemostasis and thrombosis, including clinical support for the regional TTP/TMA service, the largest UK centre. The post holder would have the opportunity to develop sub-specialty interests in liaison with the existing consultants. The on-call commitment will be to assist in the TTP/TMA and haemostasis and thrombosis services. This would involve inpatient management and on call referrals and advice involving UCLH patients and tertiary referrals.

Applicants should have a special interest in Haemostasis and Thrombosis and preferably a higher medical degree in this or a related appointee would be expected to support research within areas identified and develop their own particular area of interest. Collaboration with other investigators is encouraged.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of a haematology team, including five other consultants within the haemostasis and thrombosis department. All candidates must be eligible for full GMC registration and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of receiving their Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) at the time of interview.University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, serving a large and diverse population. There is also a 10 bedded ITU on the new haemostasis and thrombosis, there are a number of specialist clinics, including: TTP, ITP, General Thrombosis/Cancer Thrombosis clinics, Obstetric Haematology and haemostasis clinics. Professional Qualifications

Essential

Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview) Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
