Autism Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire

Salary: £83 – £100 per day

GSL Education is working closely with an Alternative Provision in York to appoint an Autism specialist Teaching Assistant, with work available on full-time basis, term time only. As an Autism specialist practitioner, you will have the opportunity to make a difference to the educational lives of children and young people with additional needs, from the ages of 4 to 16 years old.

Autism Teaching Assistant Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare learning materials.
  • Assist in the delivery of play-based learning activities and educational activities at Primary School level.
  • Adapt teaching support according to individual student's needs.
  • Work alongside other professionals such as speech and language therapists and outside agencies to ensure EHCP outcomes are met.
  • Support pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.
  • Work with children and young people on a 1:1 and small group basis, focussing on their social, emotional and mental health development.
