Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, motivated clinician to join our team. You will be a registered Occupational Therapist with demonstrable expertise in goal focused rehabilitation, supporting patients to become experts in their own care and to remain in their own homes.

It is expected that you will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with a variety of service users of different age groups, have good self management skills and an ability to prioritise your case load. You should ideally have experience of working in a variety of clinical settings with knowledge of the challenges of community working.

The ability to travel between sites in a timely manner is essential

This is a role that will enable you to use your own initiative to meet the different needs of patients, as well as being part of an experienced and dynamic multidisciplinary team.

There is opportunity to gain experience in community and inpatient rehabilitation. The main focus of our service is to provide rehabilitation to adults in their own homes, communities and inpatient facilities, working in an integrated way with colleagues from health, social care and third sector.

We want ambitious staff who are keen to engage in service developments and have responsibility for effective clinical governance

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a specialist Occupational Therapy Service for Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB), responsible for:

Managing a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan implement and evaluate interventions.

Provide leadership for junior staff through supervision and appraisal.

Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.

Contribute to the maintenance and development of Powys Teaching Health Board Occupational Therapy Service.

Regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.

Deputise for Team Leader when necessary.

Work flexible across locality and participate in the 7-day rota to meet the service needs

Provide cover in other areas/specialities as appropriate and within competencies.

Provide a flexible service in locations most appropriate to patient's needs, home, school, community hospital or leisure centre

Allocate work to support staff, at all times monitoring their skills and competencies.

Qualifications

Essential

Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy HCPC Registered Evidence of significant post graduate training range of short courses, in-house training Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development Specialist knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions relevant to client group Detailed knowledge of the principals of clinical governance and its application

Desirable

Effective teaching and presentation skills Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice

Experience
