Job summary
Appointment of a full time Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry based at Peter Hodkinson Centre, Lincoln working across Ellis Ward, a male inpatient ward. The post holder will be working alongside consultants who provide general psychiatric care for adults in the east coast area. This post will have from Junior Doctors for the male Inpatient unit, with positions including 1x F1, 1 xF2, GP x2 and CT x1. The trainee allocation changes every year depending on the availability of trainees.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working alongside trainees (FY, GP, MTI, CT/ST).
Ellis ward is an 18 bedded male acute ward.
Liaising with other professionals and agencies involved in the patients' care.
Attending care planning meetings, ward rounds, risk assessment and referral meetings.
Referral assessments as necessary.
Attending Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers' Hearings.
Preparation of reports for case summaries, CPAs, Tribunal/Managers' Hearings, Discharge Summaries.
The Specialty Doctor will be expected to participate in the postgraduate activities related to psychiatric services and to ensure CPD requirements are met.
The Specialty Doctor will be expected to participate in departmental studies and the medical/clinical audit process. The SAS doctor also takes on role of teacher and supervisor for the medical students and junior trainees.
So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties, the post holder undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.
To work in liaison with the Trainees to provide medical and psychiatric cover for the patients within the ward.

Qualifications
Essential
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification At least 4 years' full-time postgraduate training, or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis At least two full-time years in a specialty training programme in relevant specialty, or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty, or equivalent experience and competencies. Full GMC registration DBS clearance
Desirable
MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists Approved Clinician status is desirable Approved under Section 12(2) or able to achieve within 3 months Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management Additional clinical qualifications
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
Demonstrate commitment to further development. Widespread and detailed experience of assessment and management of patients in child and adolescent psychiatry. Ability to offer expert clinical independent responsibility for clinical care of patients. Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
