Main duties of the job
The main duties of the Housekeeping Supervisor will be:
To provide supervision to the staff working throughout the nightshift.
To have an understanding and follow the Governments guidelines on the National Standards of Cleanliness
To ensure all PDR's are completed
To deal with and rectify any problems that arise within your working shift.
You would also be required to attend Departmental meetings.
To ensure that all staff are following the correct procedure when signing in/out of keys.
To ensure all staff are following and adhering to the uniform policy.
To ensure that a handover is completed from the nightshift to the early morning Supervisor.

Dimensions :
Managing the day-to-day running of an allocated work area atdirect supervision of 1 team leader and between 12 and 40 staff. No budgetary responsibility.

1 KeyResponsibilities :
To provide daily supervision of staffensuring daily contact with all staff on duty.
To assist the Assistant HousekeepingServices Manager to compile work schedules.
Todeal with, and rectify minor problems which arise on a daily basis.
Tohave an understanding of the governments guidelines on the National Standards of cleanliness.
To carry out monitoring in line withThe National Standards of Cleanliness.
To take a pro-active approach tocleaning, constantly striving to improve the quality of service provided.
To carry out staff appraisals.
To carry out staff induction.
To provide comprehensive training toall new members of staff.
To encourage and support staff toachieve NVQs in cleaning and support services.
To have an understanding of infectioncontrol and to ensure compliance within the Department.
To maintain confidentiality at alltimes.
To ensure that all staff are aware of Health and Safety atwork Act (1974) and that departmental safety procedures are adhered to.
To liaise with staff within the hospitalon day-to-day issues relating to the housekeeping service.
To deal with complaints in the first instance.
To raise with the Housekeeping and LinenServices Manager, any issues which may affect the quality of housekeepingservice or linen service.
2 Key Activities
To organise and plan work rotas ensuringmaximum efficiency of staff.
To accurately complete staff register and rotapaperwork
To allocate keys and ensure key logsheet is signed, and that returned keys are logged in.
To allocate supplies of cleaningchemicals and consumables.
To be responsive to telephone andbleep requests ensuring a prompt service at all times
To authorise annual leave ensuringminimal disruption to the service.
To carry out staff return to workinterviews following a period of sickness absence, and bring to the attentionto the Assistant Housekeeping Services Manager any problems.
To attenddepartmental meetings.
Tore-train staff annually or more frequently if required.
To provide a mop and cloth washingservice, in line with the departmental procedures.
To ensure that all staff comply with theuniform policy.
Tocomplete weekly time sheets.
Tocover areas of work in the event of staffing shortages.
StandardClauses:
The purpose of this post should remainconstant, but the duties and responsibilities may vary over time within theoverall role and level of the post. Thepost holder may from time to time be asked to undertake other reasonableduties. Any such changes will be made indiscussion with the post holder in the light of service needs.
Competence
The post holder is responsible forlimiting his / her actions to those which s/he feels competent toundertake. If the post holder has anydoubts as to his or her competence during the course of his / her duties, thens/he should immediately speak to their line manager or supervisor.
Codesof conduct
All employees of the Trust who arerequired to be registered with a professional body, to enable them to practisewithin their profession, are required to comply with their code of conduct andrequirements of their professional registration. Those staff that are not required to beregistered with a professional body are required to comply with the Trustscodes of conduct.

The post holder must maintainconfidentiality, security and integrity of information relating to patients,staff and other Health Service business.
RecordsManagement
