St Thomas’ launched as a Church Plant around four years ago and is the ‘Resource Church’ for the Diocese of Newcastle. Employment: The successful candidate will be initially employed by the Newcastle Diocesan Board of Finance. The Resource Church is in the process of being set-up as a legal entity in its own right, and once established employment will transfer to the new Resource Church body. Accountability and Key Relationships: Line Manager: Lee Kirkby, Associate Minister. Other key relationships are with the St Thomas’ staff team and the Diocesan Children and Youth Team.
Main Responsibilities The successful candidate will help to develop and deliver a vision for reaching and discipling children and families, encouraging children to engage with the Church (and vice versa) and supporting innovative mission and discipleship amongst children. Within St Thomas’ you will be a champion for children whilst also being a key part of the church staff team to help develop and deliver the wider church objectives including the diocesan strategy for new worshipping communities that reach children.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a Christian fully committed to the Word of God & the power of the Holy Spirit with experience of working with children and families in a local church context and a desire to put the interests of children as a priority and help them grow and find faith. Someone who honours, lives and encourages the vision and values of St Thomas’ with a passion to further develop and deliver a vision for children's discipleship and mission within the church. For full details please see the job description.
About us St Thomas’ is a growing church in the heart of the city of Newcastle and is the ‘Resource Church’ for the Diocese of Newcastle. The church plays an instrumental role in the Diocese, helping us to take a new and exciting approach to mission and ministry. If the Church is to thrive, we must attract more people, specifically younger people and in the power of the Holy Spirit see them come into a thriving relationship with Jesus Christ. The continued development of St Thomas’ is an important part of our Mission and Discipleship plan to help us to continually grow our congregation whilst also working across the diocese to both revitalise existing congregations and establish new worshipping communities.
