This post is fixed term / secondment for months due to the needs of the service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band occupational therapist vacancy in the psychiatric liaison team who are employed to support patients admitted to the District general Hospital who are experiencing poor mental health and/or substance issues. Experience of working with mental health is required. This will be a full time secondment position.
The role provides autonomous working within the specialist multi-disciplinary team of psychiatric liaison, which consists of adult, older adult and alcohol liaison nurses who cover all ranges of mental health.
The post holder will receive referrals from psychiatric liaison colleagues for patients within the district general hospital suffering with any form of poor mental health or substance issues.
The post holder will select and carry out functional and cognitive assessments to formulate care plans to support discharge and interventions to enhance the patients’ independence and improve their quality of life. In addition, the post holder will need experience of interventions such as relaxation, anxiety management, motivational work, social prescribing and risk management.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner following professional codes of conduct and ethics carrying a varied specialist caseload in a specialist area of practice which will include patients with complex needs.
Clinical activities can take place within the District General Hospital and Psychiatric liaison Out Patients clinic.
The post holder will supervise the teams Health Care Support Workers and students and in addition may provide supervision or guidance and support to workers from another discipline.
The post holder will support the learning and development of others including colleagues and peers.
The post holder will contribute to service developments providing advice as a specialist within their department which can include attending meetings and participation in audit, service evaluation and researching evidence based practice.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
