Salary:£23,151.50 per annum pro rata.

Location: Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire (WD3 9XL).

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Part Time, 22 hours per week. (22:00-09:00 x2)

Our Residential Support Workers create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance, and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and can reach their full potential.

About the service

Short Breaks at West Hyde is a provision for children and young people with a wide variety of additional needs including learning difficulties, complex behaviour, and complex health needs, between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. The primary aim is for those who visit to have fun, enjoy themselves and make friends in a safe environment where they feel comfortable and valued whilst we offer them the same opportunities that other children their age may have.

West Hyde has an Ofsted rating of 'Good' and is always striving for 'Outstanding'.

You will build bonds with children and support them with day-to-day personal needs and promoting their independence. Working within a team you will help to maintain our fun and nurturing environment.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

We are now seeking a Residential Support Worker to help us maintain the high standards of care and personal development our young people have come to expect. You'll instil your compassion and ambition in everything you do, always with our young people at the front of mind. You will support by:

  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing, and managing risk.
  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
  • Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
  • Lead shifts with the primary aim of the provision of a high-quality service.
  • Supervise and guide staff as required, in accordance with Action for Children policies and procedures.
  • Lead by example with the application of Action for Children's policy procedures and professional practice standards and in line with registration requirements.

  • Experience of leading Shifts in a Care setting.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent).
  • Experience and training in safeguarding.
  • An innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Experience of developing tailored care plans.
  • The ability to create a safe and fun environment for both staff and children in the home and in the community.
