Role Highlights:

Oncology & Haematology: You'll provide specialist pharmacy services to oncology, haematology, and palliative care. Clinical Trials: Get involved in cancer clinical trials screening and processing. Collaboration: Work closely with oncologists, haematologists, nursing staff, and fellow pharmacists to promote evidence-based practice and support departmental growth.

Main duties of the job

The pharmacy services are well regarded in the Trust and are recognised as a key element to any clinical development. The Pharmacy team is forward thinking; we embrace change and are constantly looking for ways to improve the service. We understand the importance of good teamwork and have strong links with other professions. The patient is at the centre of all that we do, and our strategy is to provide a pharmacy service that has medicines optimisation at its heart. EPMA (Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration) has been implemented at both sites increasing patient safety and accuracy.

Applicants must be registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Full-time ( hours per week).

Weekend shifts 1 in 5 (either Saturday or Sunday) and approximately one Bank Holiday shift per year.

This is a cross site Maternity cover role over a 12month period, so this post also offers an excellent step up into a leadership role, allowing you to develop further skills whilst being fully supported and developed.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Masters degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent) Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience Registered Pharmacy Independent Prescriber with experience in Haematology / Oncology, or be prepared to undertake this qualification / experience

Desirable

Membership of a professional organisation ( Royal Pharmaceutical Society, UKCPA, BOPA)

Experience

Essential

2 to 4 years NHS hospital experience post qualification Previous experience of working in Haematology / Oncology Supervising and developing staff Delivering education and training Directorate pharmacy experience meeting with clinicians and managers Ability to communicate effectively in difficult/demanding circumstances Time management skills, ability to meet deadlines Ability to analyse information and make judgements Good clinical knowledge of current therapeutics and pharmacy practice including Haematology / Oncology medication regimens

Desirable

Clinical audit projects or practice research Experience of leading a team Experience of service development
