SEN Teaching Assistant – Chorlton
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Chorlton. This full-time position is set to begin in October and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent depending on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay of £419.25 to £500.
Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) across a variety of settings within the school. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with these students, helping them to access the curriculum, develop essential skills, and achieve their full potential. You will be working alongside teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to provide tailored support that meets each student's individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
One-on-One Support: Provide dedicated one-on-one assistance to students with SEN, helping them navigate their daily routines, complete tasks, and understand lessons. You will be instrumental in helping these students overcome learning barriers and build confidence in their abilities.
Classroom Support: Work within the classroom environment to assist with the management of SEN students, ensuring they are fully engaged and supported during lessons. This includes helping with differentiated instruction and adapting materials to suit individual learning styles.
Small Group Interventions: Lead or assist with small group activities designed to support the development of social skills, communication, and academic abilities. These sessions will be tailored to the specific needs of the students involved.
Behavioral Support: Assist in managing any behavioral issues that arise, implementing strategies that promote positive behavior and help students to manage their emotions. You will work closely with the SENCO and pastoral team to address any ongoing concerns.
Personal Care: Where necessary, provide support with personal care needs, ensuring that all students are treated with dignity and respect. This may include assistance with feeding, mobility, or personal hygiene, depending on the needs of the student.
Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other staff members to monitor student progress, share observations, and adjust support strategies as required. You will be an essential part of the team dedicated to providing a supportive learning environment for all students.
Parental Engagement: Maintain regular communication with parents and carers, providing updates on their child's progress and working together to support the student's development both at school and at home.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of the support provided, including daily logs, progress reports, and any incidents that occur. You will be responsible for documenting the effectiveness of interventions and contributing to the overall assessment of student progress.
Professional Development: Participate in training and development opportunities offered by the school and Teaching Personnel. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with SEN students in a secondary school setting, with the potential for career advancement.
Requirements:
