This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a friendly multi-disciplinary team working predominantly in our two Philips Cardiac Cath Labs at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. Previous experience of working in a Cardiac cath Lab or interventional Radiology department is an advantage but not essential as we are happy to provide training and support to individuals who demonstrate an interest and are keen to develop their skills in this speciality.
This is a full time position of 37.5hours, with opportunities to rotate into other areas of Fluoroscopy & Interventional Radiology.
Main duties of the job
You will perform a wide variety of radiographic procedures on patients to a high imaging standard and provide excellent patient care within the team. As a Radiographer working in a multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with both IRMER and IRR policies. The role is a Band 6 position and you will be responsible for co-ordinating workload and prioritising patients according to clinical need in association with the other members of the Multidisciplinary team.
As a band 6 specialist radiographer you will be expected to have effective leadership and motivational skills, be an effective communicator, and able to work alone or as part of a team, demonstrate organizational skills, and have the ability to work to a high standard, both technically and in patient care .
You will be a HCPC registered Radiographer. You must hold a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or DCR and demonstrate a flexible approach to working within the department to meet the needs of the service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
There are a core group of Specialist Radiographers that support the procedures in the Cardiac Cath Labs alongside cardiologists, nurses and Cardio-physiologists. The team undertake, coronary angiography and pacemaker insertions / interventions ensuring high standards of patient care & experience. The unit has 2 Philips Allura C-arms which are due to be replaced in the near future. As the Trust is both a Neuro and Vascular regional centre, you will also have the opportunity to broaden their horizon and rotate into Neuro intervention or Interventional Radiology suites.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
Assist and support the Lead radiographer in the safe, effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and the associated systems and processes Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff Ensure a high radiographic standard is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of standards to meet patients’ needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines Communicate with patients, relatives and other healthcare workers to ensure appropriate dissemination of complex information, in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals Ensures environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness To participate in education and training of junior staff Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice. Comply with the requirements of the Ionising Radiation Regulations and IR (ME) R and related departmental protocols and procedures Use information Technology systems as required at every level of the role
