Product Safety Manager
Location: Cheadle (SK3 0XB) - Hybrid
Thales Underwater Systems cover a broad portfolio of engineering challenges, working at the forefront of the exciting area of remotely operated unmanned vehicles for maritime/naval operations, the introduction into service of new sonar capabilities to surface and submarine platforms in the UK and around the world, and the support for all Thales in-service sonar systems.
We are currently recruiting for a Product Safety Manager lead topics in safety engineering tasks for our major projects including in-house autonomous system developments and future flagship naval programmes. This is a technical management position.
Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of safety engineering activities for UWS projects, ensuring the delivery of all safety artefacts and requirements in a timely manner; Act as the main Point of Contact for Safety Expertise to your projects, supporting the Project Design Authority and other engineering functions in the delivery of their activities; Liaise with the customer representative for all safety related activities; Ensure that the safety management approach for all our projects is in accordance with Thales processes, in addition to customer requirements, including but limited to Def Stan 00-056 or MIL STD 882; Immediately raise any concerns regarding the safety of a product, or the application of policies and processes, and support / lead Product Safety Investigations to resolve these issues; Support the UWS Safety Assurance Manager and Safety Authority in the delivery of their duties to ensure that all UWS projects and systems are adequately safe.Experience and Skill Required
knowledge and/or experience of Safety Management Processes, and experienced in the implementation and delivery of Safety Engineering activities; Knowledge and experience of formal hazard identification and assessment techniques and methods, and IT based Hazard Log management systems; Knowledgeable with respect to product environmental, material and safety related Legislation, Regulation and Standards; Experience of safety management processes from safety critical domains; Experience of Functional and/or Software Safety Knowledge of engineering lifecycle management, its requirements and application;Security Clearance statement
Due to the sensitive nature of much of the work, all applicants must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC level minimum), please check the government website before applying. On this occasion we require sole UK national status due to the Security requirement associated with the position.
