Contract term: Full time, permanent
Proposed start date: March 2025
Background:
Worcestershire County Cricket Club is one of the 18 major county cricket clubs which make up the England and Wales Cricket Board. We play to the highest level of professional cricket with a history stretching back over 155 years. Our vision is to become Worcestershire’s premier destination for live sports, entertainment & hospitality, whilst providing great experiences for everyone who comes to New Road.
We are passionate about our people and strive to make our working environment a welcoming and inclusive one, fuelling ambition with opportunities and support to help our people achieve their personal and professional goals. Our values of Trust, Inclusiveness, Kindness, Resilience and Togetherness, resonate across everything we do at the Club and define our culture and behaviours.
Our Women’s Team:
Worcestershire County Cricket Club is proud to have been awarded Tier 2 status for our Women’s Rapids team and is seeking a qualified Physiotherapist to join our Science and Medicine team.
In this role, you will be the primary lead for the Women’s Rapids, supported by two other experienced physiotherapists who are already employed by the Club. While your main focus will be on delivering care to the Women’s Rapids team, you will also work with our professional men’s team and academy. This role is designed for a 50/50 commitment, supporting both the Women’s and Men’s programs equally.
Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a self-driven professional, eager to expand their expertise by leading physiotherapy services for our Women’s Rapids team and supporting the lead physiotherapist in delivering care for our Professional and Academy squads. This role requires adaptability and responsiveness to daily challenges, balancing work with amateur, professional, and academy athletes while upholding high professional standards across a busy competitive calendar.
During the winter, the focus will be on player development, with training held at Malvern College and New Road, and the role includes evening and weekend work. In-season, you will primarily provide game-day coverage while managing ongoing rehabilitation and team projects. We value curiosity and initiative, encouraging you to bring forward ideas to enhance service delivery and performance outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide day to day physiotherapy support and pitch side trauma care for players at matches and training as required;
· Provide evidence-based physiotherapy support for acute injuries;
· Provide rehab planning and delivery for more complex issues, whilst working with the Science and Medicine team to support diagnosis and treatment;
· Undertake administrative tasks relating to injury management, including booking investigations and appointments, requesting insurance pre-authorisations, and completing medical insurance documents;
· Assist with musculoskeletal screening/profiling and work to manage performance risks;
· Complete concussion baseline testing.
· Work with the relevant Science and Medicine team members and coaching staff to individualise player preparation and develop integrated support programmes for individual’s player performance targets;
· Communicate injury assessment findings and concerns with the Lead Physiotherapist or where appropriate, the Chief Medical Officer at the end of the day/match;
· Undertake appropriate professional development to keep abreast of best practice and current evidence-based research;
· Keep notes of all contact with players and interventions to medico-legal national standards.
Other responsibilities:
We expect our people to demonstrate and promote our values at all times to ensure Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s brand is always held in the highest regard both internally and in public. It is expected that you will:
· Be proactive in promoting inclusiveness across the club and reporting any discrimination that you witness.
· Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk that visit the Club.
· Promote a positive environment that is welcoming, friendly and supportive.
· Foster a culture of togetherness and commit to contributing to a strong team ethic.
· Be passionate about delivering excellent customer service to everyone that comes through our doors.
The nature of our work and the size of our team here at Worcestershire County Cricket Club requires everyone to be flexible, motivated and an excellent team player.
This Job Description is not an exhaustive list of tasks but represents the key duties and responsibilities required by the role. You may be required to take on such reasonable additional or other responsibilities and tasks as we need from time to time.
The closing date for applications is Friday 8th November.
Worcestershire County Cricket Club recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds.
The Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
