Second/Sous Chef

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £32,000 & range of excellent employee benefits

Onsite – Monday-Friday

Sodexo has a great opportunity for an experienced Second/Sous Chef to join our established team working with our prestigious clients based in Cambridge.

Joining our team at their large site, you will provide good quality food to the required standard at the correct times, maintaining the Company’s reputation whilst producing menu items on a daily basis to the required standard and ensuring the kitchen and all related areas are kept to the required level of hygiene with all appropriate daily documentation completed

The Second Chef will make sure that the food produced is done within HACCP & Sodexo guidelines and recorded accurately to ensure customers are given prompt and efficient attention during service whilst maintaining the kitchen and all related areas are kept to the required level of hygiene with all appropriate daily documentation completed.

You will assist the Head Chef with stock taking as required and any buffets/functions that may arise, some of which may occur outside normal working hours, so flexibility is required along with any other related administrative duties as well as attending any training courses and meetings to support the training of the junior members of the Catering Team.

About You 

Experience and knowledge requirement for this role: 

•      At least 2 years’ previous craft experience or similar

•      Ability to communicate orally and in writing to an excellent standard

•      Ability to complete maths to a reasonable standard 

•      Exhibits characteristics of Service Spirit, Team Spirit and Spirit of Progress

•      Good interpersonal skills enabling good relations with customers, Clients and colleagues 

•      Willingness to receive, understand and implement Sodexo and Client training 

•      Ability to organise oneself and prioritise tasks and work alone

•      Identifies and communicates potential problems to Head Chef or Sous Chef

•      Smart, clean appearance with a strong emphasis on personal hygiene

•      Displays a passion for food and customer service

•      Ability to work as a team player

•      Copes well under pressure

Qualifications required:

•      706/1 & 706/2 or equivalent (Essential)

•      Food Safety Qualification

•      Health & Safety Qualification

•      Food Allergen training
