London, United Kingdom Ashurst Full time

The Opportunity:

We have an opportunity to join our Risk & Compliance team as a Conflicts & Ethics Senior Advisor in our Sydney, Brisbane, or Perth offices. If you are returning or relocating to Australia, this could be the ideal role for you.

Joining as a Senior Advisor you'll be responsible for working with the wider Risk & Compliance management team to ensure the firm performs comprehensive conflict and other assessments related to the inception of new and existing business with particular emphasis on, but not limited to, ensuring the firm meet obligations in relation to conflicts of interest and compliance issues worldwide.

You will play a pivotal role within the firm's global Risk & Compliance team to ensure the work being undertaken meets the firm's global strategy.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

Professional services experience required, ideally within a law firm. UK/Overseas legal qualification (or minimum of LPC) preferable but not essential. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and business awareness; ability to put an argument across in a clear, articulate way to the partnership and to senior management; requires excellent negotiation skills. Keen interest in knowing the business and lateral/analytical thinking: exposure to firm-wide legal practices will involve exposure to various types of high profile commercial deals. Discrete and professional as the information will be confidential and sensitive. Strong interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively at all levels across the firm and offices. Good team spirit: assist others when necessary with the resolution of issues in a diplomatic manner. Able to lead by example. Commitment to supporting the team as a global function and ability to strengthen those connections globally. Ability to use own judgment to come to decisions but also aware of when issues need to be escalated. Flexible and able to adapt to new situations, processes and technology.

What makes Ashurst a great place to work?

We offer you all the things you should expect from an international law firm, some of which include:

competitive remuneration with the flexibility to reward high performance; flexible working; complimentary gym memberships; corporate health plans; a global professional development offering for all employees; and an industry-leading programme that celebrates diversity and inclusion.

We are committed to delivering positive impacts to our communities through our Social Impact programme, with a strong emphasis on working with First Nations people through our pro bono practice.

We aim to recruit, retain and promote the best people from the widest possible talent pools. We are committed to offering a safe and welcoming environment for all employees to ensure they are supported to work at their best.

Beyond this, what sets Ashurst apart from others is our global strength, our drive to innovate and collaborate, and our commitment to excellence. It is these values that make Ashurst a unique place to work.
