Croft Hall Medical Practice is a forwardthinking friendly Practice in Torquay with 8200 patients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Healthcare Assistant who can deliver a broad range of primary care services including Phlebotomy, Administration of B12, Flu Vaccinations, Health Checks, Wound Care/removal of sutures supporting the GPs and nursingteam.

Main duties of the job

Working under the direct supervision of thepractice nurses and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelinesand protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical teamin the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

CroftHall Medical Practice is based in Torquay, Devon. It is within an innovativearea and our practice is involved with all local initiatives. We are a singleurban site, beside the sea, serving 8200 patients and an active part of theTorquay PCN.

Wehave an ever growing multi-disciplinary team which includes experienced ANPs,alongside our PCN staff including Pharmacists, Wellbeing Team and PhysicianAssociates. We focus on the wellbeing of our staff and have strongcommunication across all teams.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Undertakenew patient health checks Supportthe practice nursing team with heal promotion programmes Carry outbaseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature andpulse rate, and record finding accurately Facilitateroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly Undertakewound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required Support thepractice nursing team with the management of chronic disease clinics Carry outBMI checks as directed Act as achaperone when required Undertakevenepuncture once trained Administerflu vaccinations once trained Carry outECGs as requested Ensurespecimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation Providesupport during minor operations as required Ensure allclinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session Ensure fridgesare routinely cleaned in accordance with current guidance Ensure clinicalwaste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance withpractice IPC policy Deliveropportunistic health promotion where appropriate

In addition to thecore responsibilities, the HCA may be requested to;

1.Partake inaudit as directed by the audit lead

2.Participatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

3.Supportand participate in shared learning throughout the organisation

4.Undertakeany tasks consistent with the level of the post and the scope of the role,ensuring work is delivered in a timely and effective manner

5.Completeopening and closing procedures in accordance with the rota
