Preston, United Kingdom Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Full time

Job overview

We have an exciting secondment opportunity for an experienced band 6 or existing band 7 with a passion for acute medicine, respiratory care and patient flow.

You will be supporting patients on their clinical pathway working alongside a multi-disciplinary team to optimise care and deliver rehabilitation interventions and discharge planning. There will be the opportunity to participate and contribute to different 'big rooms' such as falls prevention, deconditioning, kidney care, etc.

When successful, you will be providing clinical expertise and support to staff including physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy assistant within the team.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely alongside the band 7 Occupational Therapist to support the demands of the service and support staff with managing a demanding caseload. Your role will be to ensure delivery of a high quality service across the acute medical setting, including assessment and treatment of acute medical patients and facilitating discharge planning as appropriate.

As Clinical Lead Physiotherapist for acute medicine you would support the team with their daily demands, liaise with the wider MDT and social care teams within the hospital and be responsive to the demands of the service. You would get experience in day to day management of a team of physiotherapists and occupational therapists. There will be a balance between clinical and non-clinical responsibilities with focus on service and quality improvement and supporting training and development of staff.

You will be welcomed into a supportive environment with a clear supervision structure through which personal and professional development is encouraged. You will act as a model for clinical, operational and professional leadership. You would have opportunities to develop their leadership skills and management skills with support from the Therapy Service Lead for Acute Medicine.
