L&D Partner
What’s in it for you?
We’re looking for a Learning & Development Partner – Level 2 to work within the People team, reporting to the L&D Partner Level 3
Are you an experienced L&D practitioner who is excited about helping others develop and excel? Are you excited about your own development and engaged when working independently and collaboratively to support Octopus’s learning culture? You will partner with the team, the business, and our stakeholders to deliver across the full learning lifecycle to truly make an impact.
We’re looking for an L&D Partner to join our fast-paced and collaborative team. As well as helping us deliver core learning, you will partner one of our business areas and work on a variety of innovative projects to help us understand and meet their evolving learning needs. Our goal is to help our people meet their potential and give them the skills they need to support Octopus in achieving its purpose.
The team:
The Learning & Development team (L&D team) is part of Octopus Investment’s People Team and we work closely with the HR Business Partners; Recruitment; and HR Operations teams to design and deliver a learning strategy that supports our evolving learning and business needs.
The People team is a fun and high performing team that partners with our leaders and colleagues in the business to help everyone get the most out of their time at Octopus.
In the L&D team, we bring our expertise to help Octopus Investment’s people and managers succeed in their roles. On a daily basis we’re designing and delivering learning that helps our people to grow and develop their skills. Understanding the business is key to our success and so we spend time getting to know the business to understand the challenges they’re facing and the opportunities that might exist for our learning offerings to help them.
What will you be doing?
Collaborating with the L&D team, you will partner with your business area to conduct learning needs analyses and design and deliver learning interventions which support business and learner needs. You will deliver classroom, virtual, e-learning and hybrid learning and you’ll support with the delivery of our core curriculum and our bespoke learning solutions.
We want to show how what we do in L&D is helping Octopus Investments to make a difference and you will support with the ongoing measurement and reporting of learning effectiveness.
As well as partnering with the business, we work with external learning providers to bring their expertise into our learning offerings, and you will form and maintain relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside of the business.
As well as helping to grow the learning of the business, we want to support the learning and development of ourselves as a team and as individuals. You will role model our learning culture, embodying a growth mindset and sharing your knowledge and leveraging the knowledge and expertise of others to help you innovate and grow.
Qualifications
Ideally, you’ll have:
✅ A relevant training qualification – CIPD Level 5; PGCE; PTLLS; CTLLS; DTLLS or a comparable equivalent
✅ Experience with a psychometric tool (like SDI, Hogan or Clevry) would be beneficial
✅ Sales experience or pitching experience or experience in teaching these skills would be a huge benefit to supporting some of our current business challenges but not a deal breaker.
✅ Experience in awareness and adoption of new tools/technology solutions (to support the IBOR project) would again be a differentiator but not a requirement.
We encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. What’s the worst that can happen?
This role will evolve as we grow and develop. So, if you are looking for a challenge in a fast paced and dynamic business, we can deliver on that.

At our core, we believe that how a company behaves is just as important as what it does. That’s why we chose to become an accredited B Corp (the equivalent of a Fairtrade coffee stamp but for companies) and to change our Articles of Association so that the interests all our stakeholders – employees, customers, communities, environment and shareholders – are considered in every decision we make.
We’re committed to creating a diverse and inclusive employee experience for all. We promote equal opportunities for growth and development regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or socio-economic background.
