Behaviour Support Coordinator

Barry, United Kingdom Iris Care Group Full time

Behaviour Support Coordinator

Location: Barry Salary: £24,084 Hours: 38.5

Are you at the beginning of your journey to train as a Clinical Psychologist? Do you already have some experience in a support or care role and want more opportunity to work alongside a clinical team, delivering evidence based behavioural and therapeutic interventions? If so, we are inviting suitable candidates to apply for a number of exciting new roles at our specialist education service for Autistic individuals – Beechwood College.

The role of Behaviour Support Coordinator is integral to our delivery of truly person centred, evidence based approaches for all of our students. You will be responsible for ensuring that all areas within Beechwood College have continual access to a member of staff whose role it is to ensure adherence to person centred plans (including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans) and to ensure and promote a continual focus on person centred outcomes across the service. To achieve this you will work either in our education team or on one of our residential homes attached to the college. You will work predominantly in a support worker role. Alongside your supporting role, you will have specific shifts on a weekly or bi-weekly basis devoted to clinical work. This work includes reviewing PBS plans, conducting observations, carrying out psychometric outcome measures, interviewing students/staff, carrying out functional analyses, completing audits and service evaluations, supporting therapeutic interventions, co-facilitating CBT group therapy. You will be working alongside the whole clinical team, including our Clinical Psychologist. Your work will be under the direct supervision from an assistant psychologist and you will have opportunities to access specific, clinically relevant training, and to hold your own behavioural support caseload. You will embody the clinical psychology ethos; being a guide and advisor for all staff, working to structured support plans, and promoting positive change to students’ lives.

To succeed in this role you must have an interest in and commitment to the practice of clinical psychology. You will be aware of current policy agendas relating to person centred practice, values based practice and the need for services to continually focus on reducing restrictive interventions. Previous experience in working in services for people with Autism is an advantage, as is any experience in working with people with a learning disability, challenging behaviour and positive behaviour support.

This role is a development role that we aim to serve the purpose of supporting people at the early stage of their careers to progress either onto postgraduate clinical training or to training in other related professional careers. As an organisation we promote a culture of continuous learning and supervision.

Please note the residential Behaviour Support Coordinator Role will include a shift pattern – Day/Night and weekend 12 hour shifts.
