As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.

Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for an Engineering Manager in our Work Rolls Department. This role will involve providing leadership, management and direction to the departmental maintenance engineering team, to ensure delivery of a high quality engineering service to support operations.

Role Responsibilities


  • Overseeing all maintenance work within their respective department including: major plant & equipment repairs, Planned Preventative Maintenance activities, modifications/developments and capital expenditure projects. 


  • Always promote Health & Safety in the workplace, ensure all Statutory Inspections are completed and ensure that safety systems and procedures are in place and adhered to.

  • Be accountable for all planned maintenance inspections, manage the identification of potential plant failures, control and plan all major maintenance activities, ensure all shutdown plans / costs are completed, and ensure every shutdown is managed correctly against the plan.

  • Perform appraisals for each team member, ensure development opportunities are identified, promote and build a team culture between Engineering and Production, promote an improvement idea generating culture, be responsible for all HR issues relating to the team in line with company policies and coach / mentor the team focusing to achieve agreed objectives.

  • Generate a monthly maintenance report, promote Root Cause Analysis within the Maintenance Teams and develop & sustain accurate communications from the Maintenance shift teams.

  • Accountable for the maintenance reliability of all plant & equipment, ensure that maintenance and repair activities are recorded, establish Engineering standards within the department, design, plan and implement engineering plant modifications and identify potential application of new technology and ‘Best Practice’ to enhance plant performance.

  • Support the maintenance management system team, to recognise & ensure that all maintenance data is captured in the system. 


About You

The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.



  • Extensive experience in a similar role.

  • In depth knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace.

  • Successfully developed, managed & improved a PM programme within a maintenance team.

  • Track record of maintenance improvements.

  • CMMS experience.

  • Root cause analysis techniques.

  • Ability to interpret data and formulate technical reports.

  • Effective people management & development skills.

  • Good IT skills, proficient user of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook etc.

Days/Hours of Work

37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with flexible start and finish time between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 – 18:00
