About the Role Lawson Road Surgery in Norwich has an exciting opportunity for a patient services administrator, on a part time basis for 30 hours per week. In this essential front-line role at the practice, you will help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed. The main responsibilities of the role include: Greeting and directing all patients. Booking appointments. Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc. Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints. Advising patients of practice procedures. Registering new patients. Answering the telephone, promptly. About the Candidate We welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of service and have the following attributes: Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner; Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times; Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations; Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet"; Strong IT and administration skills; Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable. Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues. We are looking for someone who wants to develop in their role with support of the practice and colleagues, and who wants to provide a caring and professional service to our varied patient base. About Us We are a long-established city centre practice close to the heart of Norwich and offer a triage led appointment system on SystmOne. Our list is size is 8600 which continues to grow with new developments locally. We are a teaching practice and work closely with UEA supporting years 3, 4 and 5. We are a research active practice. We have a CQC rating of Good. The practice team consist of 5 GP partners, a clinical pharmacist partner, 2 salaried GPs, 1 registrar, the nursing team, a care co-ordinator, the patient services administration team and a range of ARRS from the PCN.
