Salary: £130 - £200 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs (SEN)? At Long-Term Teachers, we collaborate closely with a remarkable independent special school, renowned for its exceptional educational and pastoral care for students aged 11 - 19. Rated ‘good’ by Ofsted, this school focuses on supporting the emotional and social development of its students, enabling them to thrive through trust, understanding and personalised support.
About the school:
Our school is part of a national network of independent schools and alternative provisions founded by experienced SEN teachers. The school provides a tailored, holistic approach to education for students with complex social, emotional, and behavioural needs. The curriculum integrates both academic and vocational pathways, with fantastic facilities that include food technology labs, motor and construction workshops, and a sports hall.
About the role:
As a SEN teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering personalised learning plans to students with a range of needs, including SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) difficulties and challenging behaviours. You’ll work closely with the school leadership and support staff to ensure that each student’s unique learning requirements are met.
You will:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students’ individual learning needs.
- Provide targeted 1:1 and group support, ensuring students remain motivated and engaged.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, with a focus on emotional wellbeing as much as academic progress.
- Develop and implement EHCP’s in collaboration with teaching assistants and support staff.
- Implement behaviour management strategies, building trusting relationships to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A qualified SEN Teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualifications.
- Experience in working with students with SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient professional with strong behaviour management skills.
- An understanding of a variety of teaching methods and approaches to meet diverse learning needs.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated team in a dynamic and supportive environment, where you will have the chance to make a significant impact on the lives of young people with SEN. If you’re passionate about helping students achieve their full potential, we would love to hear from you
