Job summary

Are you interested in a development focussed role working with an innovative and research minded team in the delivery of courses and bespoke development for health, care, allied, and commercial workforces?

We are looking for a creative and experienced academic to join our team as Deputy Head of the Interprofessional Portfolio. The portfolio delivers a wide range of the Trust's Masters and Doctoral programmes in social work; consultation and leadership and educational psychology.

Main duties of the job

You will have a key role in working alongside the Head of Portfolio in identifying and developing new business opportunities across the workforce/educational range from short CPD courses to academically validated programmes and conferences. You will ensure high quality educational offers integrate an anti-racist, intersectional and compassionate lens and take account of the principles that underpin the Trusts' equality, diversity, and inclusion strategy/action plan.

You will be required to assess and implement opportunities for portfolio developments in response to the strategic objectives of the Trust and the Department of Education and Training. In particular there will be a focus on our leadership training and development offers, working with the commercial team to respond to bids, developing, from existing bespoke offers, a suite of off the shelf courses and digital materials to develop our work in this area. Reporting to, working closely with, and sometimes deputising for the Head of Portfolio, you will also have line management responsibility and will support the Head of Portfolio who is operationally responsible for staff within the portfolio.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Masters level qualification, or equivalent plus relevant professional qualifications in one of the specified portfolio areas nursing, psychology, social work, organisational consultancy or leadership and management or equivalent. Membership of relevant professional body or equivalent. Advance HE Teaching Fellowship or a commitment to undertake this.

Experience

Essential

Experience in the management and operational delivery of education and training at Post Graduate level. Experience in relation to ascertaining, planning and implementing education and training programmes that meet the needs of the health and social care workforce, working with children, young people, adults and families including supervision and leadership and management

Skills

Essential

Excellent communication and leadership skills. Capacity to work effectively in complex institutional networks and management systems. Capacity to be externally facing and engage across a range of education programmes, professional disciplines and national and international sectors A capacity to work in a team to identify, assess and develop long, short and international programmes with a commitment to the development of digital approaches in all educational provision Capacity to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, deputising in a leadership capacity, where required.

Knowledge

Essential

Proven ability to translate innovative ideas into operational delivery via a range of models including blended delivery. Understanding of academic governance within the portfolio ensuring high standards in higher education. Knowledge and understanding of psychoanalytic/systems psychodynamic/ systemic approaches to health and social care and organisations Contemporary understanding of relevant theoretical and practice frameworks in health and social care
