This is rare and exciting opportunity to join the North East London and Essex Trauma Network Team as our new Clinical Director, for a fixed term of 2 years. This post is supported by 1PA.

The North East London and Essex Trauma Network is an operational delivery network, which covers a very large and extremely diverse and vibrant demographic.

We are:

1 Major Trauma Centre 11 Trauma Units 1 Local Emergency Hospital 4 Pre-hospital Providers 2 NHS regions 16 CCG'

We serve boroughs listed amongst the most affluent in London and also the poorest and most deprived.

We cover the most central and busiest area - The City of London, and reach out to tiny countryside hamlets and coastal villages in Basildon and Southend.

We cover areas which include the most diverse populations in the UK, with more than two thirds of Tower Hamlets being made up of minority ethnic groups.

The Borough of Barnet alone has a population of 56,000 people over the age of 65, that's the highest population of older people in all of London's boroughs.

We provide world class, leading healthcare to a combined population of 4,300,899 and growing.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide leadership to North East London and Essex Trauma Network. You must have the clinical and leadership credibility to provide guidance to the Trauma Unit Directors and Managers, liaise with Executive teams, Commissioners, Patient and Public representatives and MTC teams.

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential

Registered medical practitioner with current GMC registration. Specialist training in relevant area. Evidence of continuing professional development. A good understanding of the processes for submitting and utilisation of TARN data. Knowledge and experience of working in formal clinical networks within the NHS Clinical governance and risk management concepts and techniques. Good understanding of how to use data to improve quality and productivity Understanding of commissioning and contracting function and processes

Desirable

Management qualification Higher degree MD or PhD Understanding of finance within the NHS Knowledge of relevant national guidance on reporting outcomes for patients suffering traumatic injuries Knowledge of service improvement tools and techniques Data management or IT qualification Familiarity with medical coding systems such as ICD10, OPCS, READ, SNOWMED
