GSL Education are seeking experienced and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants in Scunthorpe to work with students facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. About the role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be a crucial part of our mission to create an environment where every student can thrive academically and personally, regardless of their social, emotional, or mental health challenges. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide individualised support and implement strategies that promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
Responsibilities of the SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- As an SEMH Teaching Assistant you will provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Implement strategies and interventions to support the social and emotional development of students.
- As an SEMH Teaching Assistant you will collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to address specific needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- As an SEMH Teaching Assistant you will monitor and assess the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of behaviour support plans.
Requirements of the SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working with students or in a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) setting.
- A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to managing challenging behaviour.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with students and staff.
- A genuine commitment to supporting the educational and emotional needs of students with SEMH.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
