You will be employed by Richmond Borough Mindwhich runs the Step 2 element of the Richmond NHS Talking Therapies Service,led by South West London and St. Georges Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLStG). Wework closely with our Step 3 High Intensity colleagues in this co-locatedservice in Twickenham.

The role will involve a mix of remote and hybrid working, however thismay change depending on service needs. Please note that all staff would need tocome in person to manage equipment, for client work and for occasionalmeetings.

Main duties of the job

Qualified in Low Intensity work, with the recognised PsychologicalWellbeing Practitioner (PWP) qualification, you will be enthusiastic,self-motivated and able to meet the demands of a challenging but rewardingrole. Opportunity to train as a supervising PWP could be open to suitablyexperienced PWPs. You will be managing your own caseload through delivering groupsand workshops, offering CCBT and individual guided self-help. Regular clinicalsupervision will be provided by the Clinical or Service lead, in addition toregular line management and training opportunities.

RB Mind is committed to clinical excellence and ensuring continuingprofessional development for our staff team by developing their skills andspecial interests. Each PWP is able to champion an area of interest to themwithin the service, involving learning and outreach. For personal developmentyou will have access to expertise from both the Trust and the local Mindnetwork.

Activities run throughout the week, including evenings and your rotawill be agreed in advance.

You will be working with a team of dynamic, dedicated and committedSenior PWPs, PWPs and Trainees and be part of successful teams at both RB Mindand our partners, South West London and St. Georges Mental Health NHS Trust.Following RB Minds staff happiness survey, all PWPs said they were highlymotivated, found their job worthwhile, had good relationships within the teamand that RB Mind are a good organisation to work for. Many of our PWPs havegone on to high intensity training within the service.

Based near central Twickenham you may be part home-based and also ableto travel throughout the Borough of Richmond to ensure that our service isresponsive to the needs of all communities.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Clinical

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and develop programmes of care packages.

Assess and supportpeople with a common mentalhealth problem in the self-management of their recovery.

Undertake patient-centred interviews which identify areas where the person wishesto see change and or recoveryand make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.

Undertake assessments on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the services referral protocols, referring suitableclients to the relevant care pathway within the service and referringunsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as appropriate.

Provide a range of information and support for evidence basedhigh-volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This includes guidedself-help, computerised CBT, group interventions and information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face toface, on the telephone or via other media.

Educate and involvefamily members and others in treatment as necessary.

Adhere to an agreed activitycontract relating to the overallnumber of clientcontacts offered, and clinicalsessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensuretreatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

Attend multi-disciplinary meetingsrelating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.

Complete all requirements relatingto data collection within the service.

2. Professional

Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to theemployer and any external regulation, and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (, NHS plan, NationalInstitute for Clinical Excellence).

Ensure that clientconfidentiality and clientinformation security is protected at all times. To treat with confidentiality anypersonal, private, or sensitive information about individuals, organisations,clients, staff, etc.

Be aware of andkeep up to date with advances in the spheresof treatment for commonmental health problems.

Ensure clear objectives are identified,discussed, and reviewedwith supervisor on a regular basis as part of continuingprofessional development.

Keep up to date all records in relation to professional developmentand ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledgeof latest theoretical and service deliverymodels/developments.

Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives.

Contribute to the development of evidence-based best practice within the service, and where appropriate to service development in response toidentified needs.

Ensure that equalityand diversity are key considerations in service development and delivery.

3. General

Keep accurate and appropriate records,providing information for monitoring and evaluation as required.

Participate in and actively contribute to individual supervision, training and team meetings as required. To attend all staff meetingsand organisational events as required.

High standard of written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, service users, carers and relatives.
