About us and the role
The Conservation & Collections Care team (C&CC) support all conservation activity across the collection and are responsible for establishing and maintaining conservation and collection care standards.

As Senior Conservator, you will be responsible for leading a team to deliver collections moves as part of changes to one of the Science Museum's permanent galleries. This project focuses on re-locating and refresh the museum's Space Technology displays.

Working in a complex and varied environment, you will lead, oversee and plan the delivery of the decant of the existing gallery. This involves preparing objects, and briefing all relevant internal and external stakeholders, for re-location either to a new display location or to the Museum's storage facility.

This will be a 9-month fixed term contract, working full time, 35 hours per week. Hybrid working is available for this position, however there will be periods throughout project delivery which will require you to be onsite regularly to fulfil responsibilities of the role.

Salary: £37,737 per annum

About you
You will need to have a flexible, pragmatic approach to work; a keen problem-solver, and be highly proactive.

You enjoy working with other and can manage a range of stakeholders, representing conservation across the project. You will need effective planning and organisational skills with a practical approach and the ability to prioritise and maintain attention to detail.

Given the nature of this project, you will need to have solid experience of conservation and collections care practices, as well as condition reporting and remedial conservation treatment of 3D objects.
