**Exciting Opportunity: Senior Conservation and Urban Design Officer**

We are currently recruiting for the position of Senior Conservation and Urban Design Officer within our dynamic Climate & Inclusive Growth department. This role plays a pivotal part in the strategic planning and regeneration process, ensuring the preservation and enhancement of the borough's historic and architectural fabric.

As part of our Climate & Inclusive Growth division, you will contribute to the regeneration framework that aligns with the council's objectives.

**Main Purposes of the Post**:

- Provide specialist advice on historic buildings, conservation, and urban design.
- Safeguard and enhance the historic and architectural fabric of the borough.
- Ensure the highest design standards in new developments affecting the historic built environment.
- Deliver customer-focused planning service by providing specialist advice to Development Management.

**Key Accountabilities at PO2 Level**:

- Provide detailed advice on designated and non-designated heritage assets.
- Review and propose changes to the Borough's conservation areas.
- Promote conservation-led regeneration initiatives in collaboration with partners.
- Compile and manage the publication of conservation area design guides and enhancement schemes.
- Maintain an up-to-date information database on heritage assets in Lambeth.
- Prepare and present expert evidence at appeals and public inquiries.
- Contribute to the development of a strategic planning function.

**Key Accountabilities at PO3 Level**: 10. Prepare and present expert evidence at all types of appeal, including public inquiries.
- Ensure effective liaison and coordination on conservation and urban design matters.
- Provide advice and guidance to junior and support staff.
- Collaborate with the Principal Conservation Officer and Team Leader.

**Essential Criteria**:Knowledge**:

- Thorough knowledge of planning legislation, policies, procedures, and English architecture/building conservation.

**Relevant Experience**:

- PO2: Minimum 2 years' experience as a conservation & design officer in an urban authority.
- PO3: Minimum 3 years' experience as a conservation & design officer in an urban authority.

**Qualification**:

- Educated to degree level and eligible for Associated membership of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC).
