The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead Plan International's gender transformative policy and advocacy efforts within our Policy, Advocacy, Campaigns, and Engagement (PACE) team. This role involves advising on the development of policy positions and advocacy strategies, with a specific focus on youth political empowerment, and supporting the delivery of our global campaign. Additionally, the successful candidate will share their expertise and knowledge both internally and externally, ensuring that gender transformative policies and practices are effectively embedded across the organization in all contexts.

About You 

Proven experience in international work environments in varied contexts and intercultural communication, including an understanding of NGO structures, the girls and women’s equality movement and the UN human rights and humanitarian system Experience of developing policy positions on inclusive education, children’s rights and/or gender equality in a national and/or international context using a variety of advocacy approaches Knowledge of international politics, political processes and policy development An undergraduate or postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in human rights, political science, international development, or other specific field relevant to Plan International’s work Experience of working on children’s and women’s rights and gender equality at the global level, either within an NGO, UN agency, government department, or other relevant institutions Understanding of concepts of young people’s socio-political empowerment and citizenship Understanding of inclusive political systems — including opportunities for young people’s empowerment around elections, parliaments, political parties, civil society and media—while managing the risks Understanding the role of digital technologies in political empowerment of young people

Location: The locations of this role can be flexible where Plam International an office* that can employ on behalf of the Global Huub and you have the pre-existing right to work and live. You may be office, home, or hybrid-based. 

Type of Role: Permanent or maximum fixed term contract as per employing office’s standard terms and conditions. 

Reports to  -  Director, PACE
