Job Overview:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join one of our specialist SEN school's in Truro. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic team committed to providing exceptional support and education to our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with a range of SEND, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech and Language difficulties, and other learning disabilities.
  • Assist in the delivery of individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure students' needs are met.
  • Work closely with class teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with their personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Use various communication methods to support students with their learning, including visual aids, Makaton, and assistive technology.
  • Help to manage classroom behavior and provide a calm, supportive atmosphere.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting is essential.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
  • Knowledge of SEND, particularly ASD, and experience with tailored teaching methods.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to the needs of individual students.
