The Role: Senior Delivery Manager


As a Senior Delivery Manager, you'll play a pivotal role within the Digital and Data Service space, specifically in the Delivery Team. Your primary responsibility will be to take on a leadership role within delivery teams, providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members. You will develop and execute delivery strategies, driving continuous improvement in delivery processes and practices. Acting as liaisons between delivery teams and senior management, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and priorities.

They lay the groundwork for success, fostering an environment where team members can take responsibility, make decisions, and work together cohesively. The things you’ll achieve

Strategic:

- Develop and execute high-level delivery strategies aligned with organisational objectives and priorities.

- Lead the continuous improvement of delivery processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

- Identify and anticipate emerging trends, risks, and opportunities in the delivery landscape, shaping strategic responses accordingly.

- Drive alignment between delivery activities and broader organisational strategies, ensuring delivery efforts contribute to long-term success.

- Champion innovation and experimentation in delivery approaches to maintain competitiveness and adaptability in a changing environment.


Delivery:

- Oversee the successful delivery of complex data and digital applications, products, and services, ensuring alignment with user needs and organisational goals.

- Manage and mentor multiple delivery teams, providing guidance, support, and leadership to achieve project objectives.

- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure successful outcomes.

- Implement and refine agile methodologies and practices across delivery teams, fostering collaboration, transparency, and adaptability.

- Resolve escalated delivery issues and blockers, leveraging expertise and resources to keep projects on track and mitigate risks effectively.


Leadership:

- Cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within delivery teams, promoting collaboration, accountability, and growth.

- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, building trust, transparency, and alignment with organisational goals and priorities.

- Serve as a mentor and role model for delivery professionals, inspiring and empowering them to achieve their full potential.

- Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, resilience, and adaptability in navigating complex challenges and driving positive change.

- Foster strong cross-functional relationships and collaboration across teams and departments, driving collective success and organisational cohesion.


Commercial:

- Manage and optimise project budgets and resources to maximise value and minimise waste, ensuring efficient financial management.

- Identify and capitalise on opportunities to enhance delivery efficiency, effectiveness, and value creation, driving tangible business outcomes.

- Negotiate and manage contracts, agreements, and partnerships with external vendors and suppliers to support delivery objectives and requirements.

- Monitor and analyse project financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for optimisation or cost-saving.

- Develop and implement commercial strategies and initiatives to support delivery objectives, mitigate risks, and maximise return on investment.


About you

- Experience leading and developing large teams.

- Successful track record in managing complex client relationships and programme delivery.

- Proven ability to operate as a strategic leader within the business.

- Expertise in agile delivery principles, practices, and methods.

- Strong negotiation skills and experience in procurement exercises.
