Client:
Our client, a global leader in Defence specialises in the design, manufacturing, and support of advanced surface ships, submarines, torpedoes, radars, and command and combat systems. Their services also include ship repair, maintenance, and upgrades, along with supplying naval gun systems. Additionally, they offer commercial shipbuilding services.
Role:
As a member of the Electrical Equipment Team, you will play a key role in specifying and tendering equipment for the Electrical Power System. You will oversee the technical aspects of the contract, managing design reviews through to completion and collaborating closely with external suppliers to ensure the highest standards of engineering excellence. This work will contribute to delivering the next generation of submarines to the Royal Navy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing technical specifications and assisting with the selection and awarding of contracts
- Coordinating and working with external suppliers and clients
- Managing the design lifecycle to ensure equipment meets specifications
- Offering technical advice to cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders on power system issues
- Preparing technical reports, calculations, and presentations to effectively convey results and recommendations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience with high-power, medium-voltage power electronics, machines, and drives
- Understanding of power systems, including conversion, distribution, and generation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
