We are looking for an experienced Strategic People Partner to lead the people strategy for our Defence Sector. This role involves partnering with the Managing Director of Defence and their leadership team to achieve ambitious growth goals and expand the division with enterprise-wide products and services. As a commercial and client-facing role, it requires a degree of international travel due to business expansion within Europe.


Your key responsibilities will be:


The Strategic Advisor

Work with the Managing Director of Defence and their team to create and execute a people strategy aligned with OGSP measures. Support the realisation of Defence's vision, enhancing the company's industry reputation and expanding the business. Coach and develop the Managing Director and leadership team. Lead organisational design to implement tailored people changes, talent management, L&D, and reward solutions with HR COE leads. Develop a strategic workforce plan aligned with the business strategy through strategic hires and succession planning. Foster strong client relationships to coordinate people strategies, enhancing engagement and retention.


Data Driven Insights Leader

Monitor key OGSP metrics such as labour costs, employee relations, sickness absence, talent retention, attraction, and resourcing to identify trends, risks, and cost-saving opportunities. Define action plans for opportunities and risk mitigation. Evaluate the progress and success of People development initiatives, generating regular reports for senior leadership and sharing key insights

with stakeholders.


The Change agent

Identify the need for change using business consulting and design thinking techniques. Ensure change initiatives in the Defence division align with our enterprise-wide approach, including people change, communication strategies, and talent management. Oversee all people aspects of securing new business deals, including designing and organizing the people components of bids, managing people transfers and demobilizations, presenting to prospective clients, advising on personnel solutions, and contributing to sales and tender submissions. Own the people components of margin enhancement initiatives to ensure timely execution of people processes. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability within the Defence unit, encouraging employees to see change as an opportunity for growth.


The Trusted Coach

Be an integral part of the HR Leadership Team, building strong connections with HR leaders and their teams to enhance Defence community performance. Foster a high-performance, trust-based environment by establishing strong relationships with the Senior Leadership Team through regular communication and genuine interest in their well-being and development. Oversee escalated cases and HR cyclical activities, including performance, talent management, and rewards, providing professional expertise and guidance to the business.

About You


The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in managing and driving HR strategy and initiatives within a fast-paced, complex environment. This experience should encompass a comprehensive background as a Senior HR Business Partner, covering key areas such as reward, employee relations, talent management, succession planning, leadership development, organisational design, and people change.


A demonstrable commercial and pragmatic approach to human capital solutions is essential. The successful candidate must possess the capability to provide accurate and timely people insights to support and verify decision-making and the delivery of business objectives. Experience in project management, large-scale mobilisations, and a thorough understanding of TUPE regulations are also required.


The role demands the ability to influence both internal and external senior stakeholders, establish relationships at all levels, and communicate effectively. Strong presentation skills are necessary for both internal and external (client-facing) settings. Robust personal organisation skills are crucial, with the ability to effectively manage projects and time being paramount.

Knowledge of tools such as TNA, psychometrics, and salary surveys to support training, development activities, employee selection, and remuneration is highly valued. A degree and CIPD qualification are desirable. The ability to travel is essential for this role, and a clean driving licence is required.
