Company Overview:


The company, supported by a prominent investment fund, specializes in providing comprehensive HR and people management solutions to SMEs. In the couple of years, they have successfully acquired several businesses and are on the verge of completing two more acquisitions. They are aiming to increase inorganic revenue by 400% in the next four years as they approach an exit, looking at 4-5 deals per annum.


Role Overview:


As the M&A lead , you will head up the company’s acquisition strategy, reporting directly to the CEO, CFO, and indirectly to the Private Equity Fund. Your role will encompass the entire M&A process, from origination and execution to due diligence and legal processes. You will be crucial in building and managing a robust pipeline of acquisition targets, aiming to complete 3-4 deals per year.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the M&A strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets, managing the entire M&A lifecycle from initial contact to integration.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence, including financial, legal, and operational assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with the CFO to ensure seamless integration of acquired businesses.
  • Prepare and present acquisition proposals and updates to the board and investors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with target companies, particularly family-led businesses, ensuring a smooth acquisition process.
  • Manage semi-chief of staff responsibilities, including preparation for board meetings and process management for integration.
  • Support the CEO in strategic decision-making and other corporate development activities.


Ideal Candidate:


  • Background in deal advisory, transaction services, or corporate development.
  • Qualified accountant with hands-on M&A experience, preferably in an end-to-end role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute the M&A process independently.
  • Strong understanding of diverse business cultures, particularly within SME and family-led environments.
  • High emotional intelligence with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of driving results in a high-autonomy, results-driven environment.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel to Maidstone, London, and Brighton.
  • Ambitious and eager to grow within the role, with potential future opportunities within the investment fund’s portfolio or other portfolio companies.
