Position Purpose:

The Contracts Manager is responsible for ensuring projects undertaken by the company are completed on time and to budget by adopting robust contract administration and commercial good practice. The Contracts Manager will play a key role in supporting the global legal team and worldwide projects teams during all phases of the project and contract lifecycle, through bidding, negotiation, commercial management and claims management during delivery.


To carry out the Contracts Manager role effectively requires the ability to apply your knowledge and experience of project contracting to influence and hold scrutiny the administration and performance of projects. You will need to be adept at establishing entitlements under contract from varying standards of contemporaneous records and differing competencies at contract administration as well as interpreting direct Project Manager reporting into early identification of additional works or delays.


You will provide Project Managers with advice for contract administration and contract interpretation to help ensure projects are managed and executed in a timely, cost effective and professional manner. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve good practice, compliance, reporting and to work cooperatively and jointly to provide discrete oversight.


Responsibilities:

  • Review RFPs and advise on contractual and commercial terms.
  • Assist with Contract formation (i.e. intake of Contract Requests (project, NDA, vendor).
  • Draft and review terms for standard contracts.
  • Analyse contracts to determine what, if any, permits, licenses, etc. TAIT needs to perform the work.
  • Advise on and support the process to obtain any needed commercial permits, licenses, etc.
  • Maintain commercial permits/licenses, as needed.
  • Monitor contract compliance (i.e. key contract dates and timelines, deliverables (COIs, etc.).
  • Assist with regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Assist with reviews or establishing entitlements to claims and variations, valuations including delay and disruption claims, as well as finding resolution to disputes/settlements
  • Ensure reporting and programme submission is compliant with the contract.
  • Ensure payment applications are compliant with the contract and/or the Construction Act.
  • Maximising project cash flow through relevant controls and valuation of work.
  • Help establish a culture of change identification within projects to protect TAIT interests.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.
  • Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company.
  • To perform this position successfully, each essential responsibility/accountability must be fulfilled satisfactorily.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Problem-Solving: Find solutions to contractual disputes and issues that may arise during contract execution.
  • Business Acumen: Understand the business implications of contracts and align them with the company's objectives.
  • Compliance: Ensure that contracts adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience in a design and build construction setting with commercial management and/or contract administration duties.
  • Success with budgeting, programming, and contract negotiations.
  • Established contract management skills.
  • Robust contract interpretation skills.
  • Understanding of project delivery requirements.
  • Understanding of claims management.
  • Understanding of Delay Analysis including Time Impact Analysis.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other document management systems.
