Job description


Expand has an opportunity for an experienced HR business partner to help drive and deliver our people agenda. This is a varied, broad and deep role covering the full HR remit (including resourcing, employee relations, reward, development, operations, policies and processes) from recommending strategy through to rolling your sleeves up and getting things done, with support from a small team.


Expand is a growing company, currently with around 75 employees based mostly in London with regional offices in New York and Singapore. We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of BCG, and you will collaborate with their specialist HR teams to leverage tools and expertise whilst ensuring that global processes and projects work effectively for Expand’s business.

HR is established as playing a key role in enabling the business to meet their goals and you will be a true partner to business managers, bringing a can-do, solution driven mindset to making things happen effectively at pace.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Business partnering: advising leaders and managers on people topics, providing solutions and translating business requests into HR actions
  • Resourcing: working with leaders to agree recruitment priorities and overseeing the end-to-end recruitment approach from sourcing to onboarding including visa sponsor management, with a focus on senior hires
  • Performance and reward: managing the annual performance, salary review and benefit renewal processes efficiently, consistently and accurately, and identifying and implementing improvements to the employee value proposition
  • Employee relations: maximizing engagement through global communication messaging and supporting and resolving individual cases
  • Learning and development: overseeing our approach to career development and training, identifying business needs and engaging with internal and external providers to meet these
  • Operations: managing the HR function to ensure that all HR and payroll systems, data and processes are dealt with effectively and accurately, troubleshooting issues and improving employee experience
  • BCG liaison: working with colleagues across BCG HR on a range of topics to provide Expand input and assess impact and optimal implementation approach for Expand’s business model


Job requirements

An ideal candidate will have:

  • 8+ years of HR experience, either generalist or across a range of specialisms, in both large and small corporate organisations
  • Business-led, can-do, proactive, pragmatic, hands-on approach with the ability to learn quickly
  • Good practical understanding of UK employment law; understanding of New York and/or Singapore employment law an advantage
  • Good practical understanding of HR processes across the full employee lifecycle
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to influence and support senior stakeholders
  • Able to perform successfully in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, matrix-structured environment with the ability to interpret rules and guidelines flexibly and juggle many often-competing priorities simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills, credibility and integrity with the demonstrated ability to develop effective trust-based relationships at all levels of the organisation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgment and proven ability to diagnose problems and identify and drive appropriate solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational, project and process management skills
  • Good skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and HR database systems
