What the Job Involves

  • Deputise for the Development Control Team Leader during their absence.
  • Manage a varied caseload, including complex development applications and appeals, ensuring accurate and technically correct reports.
  • Ensure planning applications and appeals align with service and business plan targets, complying with relevant guidance and legislation.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for Council Committees and handle matters under delegated powers.
  • Prepare and present evidence at appeals and public inquiries.
  • Assist and support Technical Assistants, contributing to team target achievement and providing training where necessary.
  • Respond to enquiries and complaints under guidance and represent the Service at meetings with other entities.
  • Support Council initiatives, including work on the Local Plan.
  • Handle calculation and validation of planning application fees as necessary.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, data protection, and information security policies.
