Role

This is a new full-time hybrid role in a rapidly expanding team for an experienced Court Solicitor, located in Edinburgh with flexibility for some remote work. The Solicitor will be responsible for handling day-to-day tasks related to various legal matters, including but not limited to representing clients in court, providing legal advice and support, and preparing legal documentation. The role will require working both in the office and remotely.


The successful candidate will be involved in handling Sheriff Court Disputes and instructing Counsel in Court of Session / Alternative Dispute Resolution work. The role will also involve landlord and tenant eviction dispute work; particularly in the social sector and the team already has 3 accredited specialists who deliver bespoke advice on contentious housing matters.


What we are looking for ….

  • Sheriff Court experience (including the conduct of proof hearings)
  • Excellent communication skills – written & oral;
  • Ability to prioritise and manage case load effectively
  • Strong business awareness of deadlines and working under pressure
  • Individuals who understand the need to balance initiative with careful supervision
  • Good research skills
  • Reliable individuals with excellent attention to detail
  • A willingness to supervise junior members including trainee solicitors
  • An ambitious solicitor who is keen to learn previously unknown areas of law/court rules and adapt and grow areas of work within the department.
  • Prior experience of housing law is desirable but not essential, as full training will be given.
