Pawnbroking Assistant

About the job:

After departmental growth we are looking for proactive Pawnbroker Assistant, to join our team on a permanent full time basis, over in our Birmingham office situated in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. This key role will provide essential support to the busy Pawnbroker Department which handles a variety of jewellery items for its fortnightly sales, with an average of 3500+ lots per sale. The successful candidate will have a commitment to collaboration with a positive can-do attitude, and of course a fine level of enthusiasm.

What the role entails:

• Checking in items upon arrival from vendor which involves sorting, matching with catalogue and putting into the safe

• Unpacking deliveries and raising queries with the vendor on items that have not arrived

• Assisting with ticketing items and the preparation for customer viewing.

• To assist with viewing involving face to face contact with potential buyers and assisting with queries on items

• Assist on sale day

• To help with customer collections and the sending out of goods atter the sale

• Liaising with the accounts team to ensure payment has been received before items are dispatched

• Dealing with customer queries throughout the process

• Preparing condition reports when requested including taking photographs

• Ability to multi task

• High level of accuracy

• Trustworthy

• Smart, presentable appearance

• Effective organisational skills

• Good communication skills (by telephone, email and face to face)

• Ability to work on own initiative

• Ability to work in a team to achieve tight deadlines and a cooperative approach to work

The experience you would need:

• Experience of working in a fast paced environment

• Jewellery knowledge/experience is an advantage but not essential.
