Role Purpose


We are seeking applicants who have a strong history in Commercial Broking, Insurnace Executives, Senior Insurance Handlers and Insurance Executive Managers.


As the Branch Commercial Director role will lead teams of Account Executives / Development Executives and be responsible for implementing regional sales and retention strategies. The role is required to motivate, guide and coach a team of Account Executives in order to drive growth through improved retention, cross-sales or new client sales and by doing so contribute to Branch and Regional P&L targets. In the Commercial Director role, you will have overall accountability for the performance of the Account Executives/Development Executives, providing them with development plans, ensuring they are trained and equipped to perform their role, together

with supporting them on more complex client issues.


Key Responsibilities:


  • The primary focus of this role is providing strong, effective leadership of the Account Executive/Development Executive team – up to 8 people – providing them with direction and guidance, in order for them to meet their targets, providing support and guidance on client issues as required.
  • Constantly reviewing the market and relevant sectors to understand new opportunities, performance against competitors in the market, identify challenges and threats from external competition and provide our team with clear advice and direction
  • Lead and support the team to deliver the best customer outcomes meeting all Consumer Duty requirements whilst working collaboratively with your Branch Director to help achieve financial targets for both your branch, region and the whole GI business.
  • Lead on all aspects of risk management, implementing plans which ensures every colleague meets risk and, where applicable, quality assurance requirements ensuring effective monitoring which highlights trends to enable actions and mitigations to be put into place
  • Work in collaboration with your Branch Director to highlight potential barriers to retention or new sales and also promote opportunities for business growth, sharing good practice and ideas
  • Constructively highlight to the Branch Director any operational needs or requirements to ensure an optimal customer journey - balancing customer satisfaction and technical standards; implementing solutions, optimising resources and managing workflow; driving standardisation and continuous improvement, tracked and monitored by meaningful MI.



Knowledge & Experience:


  • Proven track record of managing teams to deliver revenue targets within a regulatory framework
  • Demonstrable experience in a management role within insurance and extensive knowledge of the insurance industry specifically placement and insurer relationships
  • Proven track record of delivering both top and bottom-line performance and growth, organically and inorganically.
  • Proven track record of improving business performance, income and employee engagement within a regulated environment through effective sales planning
  • Significant, proven experience of managing a P&L Budget
  • A robust understanding of business processes and performance levers
  • Strong manager, with a commercial focus and financial awareness, e.g. understanding of the external market, company performance, market intelligence, business drivers, etc
  • Risk management frameworks in a regulatory environment
  • Experience of managing client relationships
  • Ability to coach, mentor and guide others
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with teams and stakeholders across the business at all levels
