Garment Tech Assistant

Purpose of the role
The Garment Tech Assistant works closely with the Garment Technician and Garment Tech Manager to ensure all styles are sealed on time, in accordance to the critical path. The Garment Tech Assistant will help to ensure garments are constructed correctly, are fit for purpose, functional and to the Phoebe Philo approved quality standards.
This role requires daily contact with suppliers to provide tech files, grading, patterns and samples, gives advice and guidance to the factories and responds to all technical queries.
The Garment Technologist Assistant will work on multi product and should have varied knowledge in woven, leatherwear, knitwear and soft accessories.
Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Garment Tech team, the garment tech assistant will attend industrialisation fittings, documenting critical fitting notes, pattern, grading and construction changes;
- Analyse quality of each RTW style ensuring this information is communicated clearly with suppliers via the technical file from SRS through to Production;
- Create technical files, measure garments, review the BOM and Kaledo technical sketch, confirm brand and care label positions;
- Provide clear written instructions accompanied by diagrams and videos where necessary to demonstrate special processes such as washes, pressing, embroidery fringing and special techniques;
- Work with the Garment Tech Team and Pattern Cutters to confirm fabric and trim ratings with the suppliers to ensure accurate cost and minimum surplus of materials and trims, updating the BOMs when necessary;
- To measure in samples ahead of fitting, check previous comments, prepare garments and help arrange pre-production fittings;
- Responsible for organisation of fitting photos and comments, sharing this information and any additional points from the Detail Review with all team members in attendance;
- Support the Garment Tech team in launching pre-production samples, in line with the company critical path while maintaining luxury standards on all RTW styles;
- Organise sampling fabrics and trims for pre-production sample, send to suppliers ensuring all elements reach the supplier in a timely manner, reporting any delays to the Garment Tech Team;
- Manage the tracking of SRS and pre-production samples between the PPL technical team and suppliers;
- Communicate with external grade houses, requesting nested and printed patterns;
- Maintain the pattern library along with tech file and image library;
- Update the quality standards in the Supplier Manual;
- Highlight any concerns and feedback to the Raw Material Quality & Compliance Team;
- Work closely with suppliers to build positive, reliable, professional relationships to deliver outstanding product.

- Reduction in quality failures and customer returns due to quality
- On time approvals for speed and adherence to schedule
- Establish supplier accountability and training
Qualifications, Skills, Experience Required
- Technical capability and product knowledge with ability to provide suggestions in garment fitting, grading and construction;
- Previous experience of 1-2 years working in a garment tech team in luxury women’s ready to wear;
- Understanding of fabrics, trims, technical construction and pattern cutting;
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, ability to collaborate with multiple departments;
- Personal integrity and attention to detail within luxury product is key for this role;
- Eager to learn, grow and adapt to new systems and processes;
- Proficient in excel, Microsoft suite and knowledge of Air table. Basic knowledge of Adobe and Kaledo is an advantage but not mandatory;
- Knowledge of Italian is preferred but not required;
