Supply Chain Buyer

Location: Hartlepool, County Durham

Job Purpose: To work as part of the Supply Chain Team to support the effective procurement of products, materials, and services relating to the manufacture of pipe coatings. Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Procurement of raw materials and services, both direct and indirect.
  • Management of purchase orders to ensure timely and accurate fulfilment.
  • Securing Requests for Quotations (RFQs) from suppliers.
  • Negotiation of purchasing terms to achieve the best possible value.
  • Selection and evaluation of vendors to maintain a reliable supply chain.
  • Providing support to customers by handling queries and resolving enquiries efficiently.
  • Investigating and resolving any invoice queries in a timely manner.
  • Expediting any items required for production by collaborating with all relevant departments to meet customer requirements.
  • Preparing reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information to support decision-making.
  • Providing assistance to the Supply Chain Manager as required. Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in procurement, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Analytical skills to prepare and interpret procurement reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications and procurement tools.
