DP World Southampton is currently recruiting for an Operations Systems Specialist to join our optimisation team. This person will be a part of our optimisation team, playing a key part in all projects, overseeing all documentation for improvement initiatives, as well as conducting technical testing and giving support for the development of IT systems. They will also be the point of contact for any employee questions or problems, always providing excellent customer service and assisting with training and support on new processes.


About The Role

How will you contribute:

  • To work closely with all departments, translating business requirements into systems solutions
  • Build and maintain new business processes, covering all scenarios including exceptions
  • Build shared processes across UK business units, sharing and supporting best practise.
  • Be out on site talking to employees and looking at any improvements that can be implemented to
  • Ensure extensive system testing prior to production; provide support at time of deployments
  • Be approachable as field expert for all systems users within operations
  • Proactively engage with the user community, responding to problems, queries and suggestions leading to continuous improvement
  • Provide input into strategy development and standards, supported by practical solutions
  • Identify improvement opportunities and propose those to others
  • Co-ordinate resolution of Terminal System Issues, providing support and improvements suggestions
  • Actively participate in process improvement activities, including Lean


What will you Bring.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • At least 2 years experience within a similar role
  • A proven track record within the transportation or logistics industry (Or similar)
  • Tertiary educational qualification is preferred
  • Computer science degree or other relevant degree within the IT function is desirable.
  • Process improvement qualification (Lean or agile)
  • Excellent customer service skills, including experience handling live issues
  • Experience with business process modeling
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications and IT Systems
  • Experience in User Acceptance Testing, software lifecycles, change management and requirements documentation.
  • Experience with Jira or Redmine would be beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
