Position Overview: The Business Development Manager at Smart Managed Solutions is responsible for driving new business opportunities, mapping out the market across all hard services and engineering sectors, and actively participating in the bid and estimating process. This role requires a strategic and results-driven individual who can identify and secure new clients while working closely with internal teams to deliver competitive and compelling proposals.


Key Responsibilities:


Market Mapping and Analysis:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential clients and business opportunities in the hard services and engineering sectors.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients through market analysis, networking, and strategic outreach.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities to position Smart Managed Solutions effectively.


New Business Development:

  • Generate new business leads and convert them into profitable contracts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients, understanding their needs and presenting tailored solutions.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets and expand the client base.


Bid and Estimating Process:

  • Collaborate with the bid and estimating teams to develop competitive and compelling proposals.
  • Participate in the preparation of bids, ensuring all client requirements are met and proposals are aligned with Smart Managed Solutions' capabilities and offerings.
  • Review and contribute to the creation of detailed cost estimates and pricing strategies.


Client Engagement and Relationship Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for new clients during the initial stages of the business relationship.
  • Conduct presentations and meetings with potential clients to showcase Smart Managed Solutions' capabilities and value propositions.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional services.


Strategic Growth and Innovation:

  • Identify and pursue strategic growth opportunities to expand Smart Managed Solutions' presence in the market.
  • Work closely with the Sales Director and senior leadership to align business development strategies with overall company goals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation by proposing new ideas and approaches to business development and client engagement.


Reporting and Performance Tracking:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all business development activities, including leads, opportunities, and client interactions.
  • Prepare regular reports on business development performance, including key metrics and progress towards targets.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis and performance data.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role, preferably in the hard services or engineering sectors.
  • Strong understanding of the market dynamics and competitive landscape in the hard services and engineering industries.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Experience in the bid and estimating process, including developing proposals and cost estimates.
