Job Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for a seasoned Cloud Engineer who will join our product team. The ideal candidate will use their experience in software development to add large features, solve bugs, address technical debt, improve how we work and ultimately deliver valuable, high-quality software to our customers.

What you'll be doing:

  • Delivering large, clean, maintainable features, resolve complex end-to-end issues, and defining new approaches where applicable, to deliver valuable features to our customers.
  • Creating automated test approaches and strategies to maintain an appropriate quality level within your team, and thus deliver solutions which work well for all our customers.
  • Leading code reviews with an emphasis on non-functional requirements and adherence to architectural principles, to ensure that we consistently deliver high-quality software to our customers.
  • Taking ownership over the security assessment of the team’s solutions, and ensuring that best practice security techniques are followed, so that the Company and our customers keep our and their data as safe as possible.
  • Using metrics to make data-driven decisions to continuously improve the team's approaches to deployment, monitoring, and operations, so that we can easily release and run performant and resilient systems in production.
  • Taking ownership over the team’s continuous improvement, by actively improving the team's events, processes, and culture, to ensure that your team stays productive and effective.
  • Managing, motivating and developing employees at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures the including Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area Coach and mentor mid-level developers to broaden their responsibilities, improve their skills and remove their own blockers, by sharing experiences, successes and failures.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Technology-focused degree level qualifications are preferred but not essential, with demonstrable experience considered an equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of two or more of the following is essential:
  1. AWS
  2. Docker
  3. Go
  4. IAM
  5. Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies
  6. Networking and DNS
  7. Serverless
  8. Terraform or CloudFormation
  • An advanced understanding of software testing is essential.
  • Knowledge of how to lead and coach others to implement effective code reviews is essential.
  • Advanced knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment and other release strategies is essential.
  • Knowledge of agile software development methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban, is essential.
  • Knowledge of web security is essential.
  • Experience of writing large, well-optimised and maintainable software features is essential.
  • Experience of analysing, debugging, and solving highly complex problems is essential.
  • Experience of considering all the relevant factors when deciding a technical approach is essential.
  • Experience of working effectively in a team is essential.
  • Experience of being a technical leader, mentor or coach is essential.
