We're on the lookout for a talented Machine Learning (ML) Engineer to join our software development consultancy in Eastbourne. The ideal person will have considerable experience developing, deploying and maintaining machine learning models.

As an ML Engineer at AxisOps, you will be instrumental in bringing our ML/AI workload in-house. You will enhance our platforms and products by decreasing data processing times, unlocking data insights and enabling informed data-driven decisions. You will bring a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, data processing techniques and software engineering principles, with a passion for creating high-quality, scalable and secure software solutions.

Required qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in computer science, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • A minimum of 2 years industry experience integrating ML algorithms and/or deep learning applications
  • Solid theoretical understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques
  • The ability to conduct comprehensive reviews and provide critical feedback on cutting-edge solutions and their applicability
  • Hands-on experience with various ML techniques and frameworks, such as data discretisation, normalisation, sampling, linear regression, decision trees, SVMs, deep neural networks, bandits and reinforcement learning, understanding their practical applications, advantages and limitations
  • Proficiency in Python, with experience using one or more DL software frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
  • An understanding of event-driven microservices architecture
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team

Advantageous:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, or reinforcement learning
  • Understanding of DevSecOps frameworks and workflows, including CI/CD pipelines for machine learning
  • Understanding of Git, Linux, Docker and RabbitMQ
  • Contributions to open-source projects or publications in peer-reviewed journals
