Human Resources Manager Job Purpose

Managing and guiding the HR department of the UK organisation, including overseeing processes and policies to make sure they are fair for all employees, as well as leading and mentoring other employees within the UK human resources department.

Working closely with the HR region lead, to co-ordinate and lead the talent, recruitment, policy, process agenda. Continually striving to make the workplace an environment where our people thrive, and our leaders drive employee development.


Human Resources Manager Job Duties:

  • Working closely with the Company centre lead teams to drive all periodic initiatives: Talent and Performance, Reward and Benefits, Engagement, Recruitment and Resourcing.
  • Act as the lead in the UK for all employment relations issues, managing absence,
  • Assisting with recruiting and staffing, driving down time to hire and cost per hire
  • Assisting to write job descriptions to attract quality candidates, whilst working with the central compensation teams to ensure job sizing and value of roles is accomplished and measured
  • Managing performance of current employees and the employee lifecycle
  • Generating reports and data to quantify performance and skills
  • Developing and implementing new processes to help the organisation offer a better workplace for staff
  • Assisting with employee disciplinary process, working closely with the UK team and managers to ensure the processes are safe and legal and following the ACAS code of conduct
  • Offering orientation and other aspects of new employee on boarding
  • Sitting on company committees to provide feedback and ways to improve the resources available to our leadership, managers, and employees alike
  • Overseeing and scheduling employee counselling and other services like wellbeing initiatives driving Spectrum Brands to be an employee of choice.
  • Overseeing compliance requirements including US SOX controls.
  • Following up on performance concerns and disciplinary action driving and management coaching process.


Human Resources Manager Skills and Qualifications

Fully qualified CIPD L7 and above (or master’s degree equivalent)

Experience of managing HR projects including TUPE, Redundancy, Complex Employee Relations, Tribunal Defence, Settlement Agreements

UK Employment Law – Significant understanding of current and changing legislation

Experience of leading and managing employee discipline and possible legal appeals for terminated staff

Sensitivity in Handling Confidential Issues

Intermediate to Advanced IT skills, Excel, HR MIS systems, PowerPoint, and Word

Good Oral and Written Communication Skills, presents well to others and has the ability to challenge viewpoints in an inclusive and relevant approach

Experience with Benefit management – Pension, Healthcare, Fringe Benefits etc.

Excellent Leadership skills to provide guidance and assistance to employees within the department as well as throughout the company.


Other Qualifications/Requirements

Must maintain high level of confidentiality and professionalism

Consistent in performance and practices ethical, professional behaviour at all times

Works well independently, yet is cooperative in working with team members

Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees within the organization

The position requires an understanding of each department’s make up: how many staff and what their roles are and a high-level knowledge of department initiatives, culture, etc.

Understands diversity and the importance of fostering an inclusive work environment

Strong communication, presentation and organizational skills required

Ability to handle conflict and perform comfortably in changing, fast paced environment

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks to meet deadlines
