The Human Factors Assessor is responsible for:


  • Undertaking human factors design and safety case assessment, and associated activities, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls and document management functions.
  • Acting in any human factors or equivalent role.
  • Supporting the Safety Case Manager;
  • Supporting wider Programme safety case and engineering leads when requested.
  • Assisting Head of Profession in capability development and establishment and implementation of resource strategies, recruitment plans and competence.
  • Advises organisation and Client leadership, engineering, programme and project management, and clients (intelligent Customer), on regulatory compliance, standards and guidance.
  • Interfacing as necessary with suppliers.
  • Supporting the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees.


Requirements:

  • Ideally hold a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education)
  • Human Factors assessment, and HAZAN production
  • Experience of UK and International standards, e.g. Technical Assessment Guides
  • Experience of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools
  • Experience of ergonomics/human factors design
  • Experience of relevant code (THERP, HEART etc.) application in a wide range of nuclear operations and fault scenarios
  • Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting;
  • Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing
  • Good MS applications, organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work


Desirable:

  • Experience of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment and nuclear Site Licence Conditions;
  • Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations;
  • Experience of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning;
  • Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector;
  • Experience of international nuclear safety assessment;
  • Project management and project controls skills;
  • Stakeholder management skills;
  • Ability to mentor and coach.
