London, UK, United Kingdom Drayton Full time

About Drayton

Drayton is an executive search business specialising in the Consumer sector. We operate across all of the major consumer categories, but have particular traction in: Food & Drink, Fashion & Luxury, Apparel & Footwear, Home & Soft Furnishings, Health, Beauty & Lifestyle.

We support our clients recruit top talent across all business functions; whether that be Marketing, Finance or General Management.

Working at Drayton means you will be part of a forward-thinking, fast-paced team. The company is made of highly knowledgeable, ambitious and driven individuals who are supportive by nature, but not afraid to challenge and push you to the next level.

Many of our team have previously worked in industry, such as Nestlé, Sony, Marks & Spencer, Red Bull and Dr Martens, prior to migrating to executive search so have a wealth of experience to draw upon and share with new colleagues and clients.

As a business, we place a great deal of importance on personal development and team effectiveness. We are always curious about ways of improving internal processes and communication as a team.

Our group has offices in London, Newcastle upon Tyne and Edinburgh. This role is most likely based in London, but Newcastle could also be considered.

The Role

Being an Associate at Drayton is an integral and critical role in our business. Working as a crucial support and contributor to the Consultants and Partners, you will be instrumental in the delivery of search mandates to our broad range of clients from within the Consumer sector.

A typical week in the life of an Associate can be very varied, but is likely to include:

  • Contributing to winning new search mandates with existing or new clients.
  • Taking responsibility for setting up the necessary project admin, be it within our CRM or raising the actual invoicing.
  • Identifying and then, where appropriate, conducting screening calls with target individuals.
  • Liaising with candidates and clients to organise interviews and follow-up meetings.
  • Maintaining systems to support business development and future recruitment projects.

Progression is something we take seriously at Drayton with clear opportunities for promotion made clear from day one. This involves supporting you to develop from Associate to Consultant and beyond. Our ambition is that you will develop in to an integral member of our growing team, most likely as a Consultant, and then Partner, specialising in a particular sector of Consumer.

We are a tight and high performing team at Drayton, where Associates are given much broader roles than one might experience in a larger search business. This intensity allows you to develop your search career faster. Obviously the rewards are significant, including a strong base salary but also a highly attractive bonus scheme.

About you

You will offer excellent academic success; a recognised and respected degree, or equivalent, from a leading institution is essential.

  1. Our expectation is that you will have at least two years post-graduation experience in a fast-paced commercial environment. At its heart, executive search is dynamic, assertive and sales-biased, so experience in a comparable professional services environment is essential. Obviously, demonstrable success in search or recruitment would be highly advantageous.
  2. You will need to be exceptionally articulate to be successful in this role. Establishing whether candidates meet our clients' needs centres upon asking the right questions - on the phone or face to face.
  3. An inherent interest and curiosity about people is key. High emotional intelligence is a must.
  4. A confident and mature demeanour is absolutely critical as you will be communicating with, and often influencing, people who are older and more experienced. You must be able to demonstrate a real flair in personal communications and thrive in this type of business model.
  5. Attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills are non-negotiable. You must be able to evidence a ruthless ability to prioritise.
  6. Finally, you must be able to show a winning mentality. You will be working within a team, so a desire to work collaboratively is equally important.

To apply for the role and find out more, please send us an up to date CV that highlights all of the key points above.
